_Singapore has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup till date, either not entering, or falling short on performance. In the Asian Cup, Singapore has participated only once, in 1984, with a performance of reaching only round 1.

The country has had better luck in the ASEAN Football Championships, winning it 3 times in 1998, 2004 and 2007, out of a total of 6 appearances.  In the Asian Games, they played only once in 1966, and reached the 4th position.

They have appeared 12 times at the SEA Games, with a best result of winning the Silver Medal twice, in 1983 and 1985. They have also won the bronze medal 5 times, in 1975, 1991, 1993, 1995, and 2007.

About the Team:
The Singapore team has been among the top in the Asian scene, though they have never been considered so among the World teams.

Some of the famous players for the side are: Dollah Kassim, Eric Paine, Robert Sim, S Rajagopal, Fandi Ahmad, Steven Tan, and Indra Sahdan Daud.

The current squad of the Singapore team is as follows: Goalkeepers - Lionel Lewis, and Hassan Sunny; Defenders - Daniel Bennett, Baihakki Khaizan, Ismail Yunos, Noh Rahman, Shariff Abdul Samat, and Afiq Yunos; Midfielders - Shahril Ishak, Shi Jiayi, John Wilkinson, Ridhuan Muhammad, Mustafic Fahrudin, Isa Halim, and Tengku Mushadad; and Strikers - Indra Sahdan Daud, Khairul Amri, Fazrul Nawaz, Aleksandar Duric, Qiu Li, Agu Casmir, and Mohd Noh Alam Shah.
